God's Smile
In Philippa's article last month she posed the question: Does God Smile?
Well, I can honestly say that He does.
Several years ago when I went with a group from our church to Lee Abbey Christian retreat in North Devon I was inspired to write the following poem after watching the morning sun break through the clouds and form a crescent shaped smile of sunlight on the grass. I captured it the best I could in this photo. 'She' in the first line of the poem refers to Lee Abbey itself.
She welcomed me with open heart, As though we'd never been apart. A glint of light on grassy slope, Brought new life with renewed hope. And as God's smile spread across the land, He greeted me with outstretched hands.
So if you're ever feeling low, Unsure in life which way to go, When you're in need of loving care... Think of God - He's always there!
Just sit alone and rest awhile, And He'll reward you with a smile. His smile will heal your wounded soul, Restore your spirit...make you whole. Remember, in everything you do... God is smiling down on you!
