These energetic establishments, pulsating with rhythmic beats and electrifying energy, provide a sanctuary for dance enthusiasts to explore and expound their creativity and foster a sense of community. Finally, after a long while, Southville International School and Colleges has its own, Relevé.
Relevé derives its name from the realm of ballet, said club president Una Villano. Una expressed her deep-rooted connection to ballet, stating, "Ballet is my foremost passion, and it has left an indelible mark on my being. When contemplating a name for our club, I immediately turned to ballet terminology.”
“The name Relevé, a ballet term signifying the action of rising and lifting oneself onto the tips of the toes, perfectly embodies our aspirations for the club,” she remarked.
The establishment of a club was a compulsory requirement for senior high students. Upon realizing that a Dance club was absent from the school's extracurricular offerings, Una took it upon herself to create one. Una emphasized that Relevé's ultimate objective is to share their profound love and ardor for dance with the school community, with the aim of unveiling the beauty and grace of this art form. By doing so, they hope to inspire and motivate fellow students to flourish.
One of their most successful performances to date was their rendition of "OMG" by NewJeans, which they prepared for the Non- Teaching Employees (NTE) Day. Reflecting on this accomplishment, Una recounted, "As a newly established club, we encountered challenges in securing a suitable rehearsal space.”
