Through the talk, Mrs. Romey suggested practical tips that the audience could start making a habit of. Firstly, one should learn to save and start to invest as early as they can to create a foundation for their finances and good money management. She highlighted the idea that early investments have the advantage of time, enabling money to grow steadily over the years. This provides the opportunity for a higher return on investment in the future. One must take note that one should fully commit to their financial goals to ensure success in their financial decisions.
Secondly, one should be proactive in becoming financially literate, as this will be their weapon against unforeseen future economic downturns. It is also important to create financial goals on the basis of the SMART standard, wherein they are SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ACHIEVABLE, RELEVANT, and TIME-BOUND. She also stressed the importance of budgeting and getting into the habit of tracking one’s expenses to illustrate money activity.
