This past week, HKL hosted its very first guided meditation in White Rock. It was a beau- tiful afternoon as people from different backgrounds came to gether to slow down, connect, and simply be present.
The meditation focused on bringing ourselves back to the present moment. Surrounded by nature, everyone had the chance to step away from the busyness of everyday life and enjoy a peaceful experience together.
One of the most special parts of the day was seeing people natu- rally join us. Some individuals passing by stopped to ask what we were doing and decided to stay. One participant shared that she was part of a meditation circle while living in China and had been looking for something similar here. Others asked if these gatherings would happen regularly because they wanted to come back and bring their friends.
After the meditation, everyone stayed to talk and share their experiences. It was amazing to hear different perspectives and learn how people from all walks of life find ways to stay present. The conversation felt genuine, and there was such a welcoming atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable contributing.
Our first guided meditation re- minded us of how powerful it can be to simply pause and be
Following the first HKL guided meditation in White Rock, everyone gathered for a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
REFLECTION FROM A SEEKER OF TRUTH
Such a beautiful compilation of words, but what do they re- ally mean?
The flower sitting on its stem is not worried about the scents and shapes of other flowers or desiring their scents and forms. The flower is not judging who is coming by and refraining from giving its fragrance to those it does not like. The flower gives its fragrance freely and spon- taneously to all. If human be- ings have a dancing heart, then so too must the life within the flower be dancing in its deep- ly rooted connection with the Earth. There is some secret that I am oblivious to.
The bird is singing before the sun is even up. What is it sing ing? I have no idea. It sings and sings continuously. How come? There is some secret that I am oblivious to.
In this world, nothing is perma- nent; everything passes away. "We are here for a few moments in the eternity of time." Within
Be happy like a flower dancing on its stem.
there is an enormous depth. There is some secret that I am this simple statement of truth, oblivious to.
"How does a flower feel on its stem? How does a bird feel sit- ting on the branch of a tree?"
I have been told that these ques- tions can be answered only in deep silence as we enter into an- other world, the world of truth. My current way of living is pre- venting me from entering this deep silence and experiencing the truth. The habits that have been adopted are taking me away from the truth and from really experiencing what these statements really mean.
Human life is the ultimate gift, for it is only in this form that we are able to recognize the truth of existence and our relationship with the Divine. I truly pray that I do not squander this precious gift on arbitrary matters, people, places, and things. May we all grasp the preciousness of this life and live in alignment with our true Divine Nature.
Be overjoyed like a bird on the branch of a tree.
Be deep like the passing away of all things.
Be joyous as the coming of new spring with life full of flowers.
Glory reigns everywhere and God is the most beautiful presence.
To live in human life is such a glorious opportunity to dwell with God.
