Each speaker shared their personal experiences, insights, and re- flections on what HKL means to them, along with the impact that kindness, compassion, and connection can have on com- munities around the world.

One of the most meaningful parts of the workshop was wit- nessing the way HKL continues to grow through the dedication of its volunteers. The ideas shared throughout the evening reflected the care, creativity, and intention each person brings to the movement.

One of the messages shared during the workshop highlight ed the importance of uplifting one another:

SURREY, BC, CANADA

"If we can make that tran- sition that is most beneficial and then be able to send each other messages of en- couragement, messages of kindness, love, empathy and compassion, and uplift one another across cultures, families, ages, and genders, we can use the power of vi- bration and frequency to create a field of coherence."

Arvind Singh from Michigan, USA

There is something beautiful that happens when hearts gath- er with a shared intention. The Global HKL Workshop in Cal- gary was one of those moments. Each person shared their own experiences and ideas, shaping the conversation and the direc- tion of HKL. The workshop came together naturally, and everything unfolded with grace and ease. Throughout the gath- ering, there was a quiet sense

Dr. Anna Steward Ibaara from Panama

This message was further re- flected in Anna's passionate speech, where she shared, "This is a joy. This is the Divine work- ing through us. This is not just for now; it is for life. HKL is always unveiling and revealing that it is a gift for others and a gift to us."

Participants were also reminded that the opportunity and respon- sibility of this lifetime is to dis- cover the point where humanity can elevate its consciousness and move closer toward true peace. This includes creating inner peace, outer peace, and recognizing the oneness of hu- manity.

"There is no separation between us. We are all part of one living, breathing organism," was a powerful reflection shared during the discussion, remind- ing everyone of our shared conof connection among everyone On July 19, 2026, an HKL

Workshop was held in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, bringing together volunteers to reflect on the purpose, vision, and message behind the HKL Movement.

The workshop provided an op- portunity for volunteers to gain a deeper understanding of why we share this message with the world. The focus was not on numbers or how many people we reach, but rather on looking within ourselves, strengthening our connection to the values we represent, and understanding the importance of our service.

Volunteers came from differ- ent chapters and communities, bringing with them their own experiences and hopes for the future of HKL. Participants gathered in small groups, where each table became a space for sharing stories, reflections, and creative ideas. The conversa- tions were filled with openness, care, and a willingness to listen. Inspiration and smiles filled the room, leaving everyone with a sense of gratitude. The workshop continued with participants breaking into smaller groups to discuss ideas, share experiences, and explore ways to continue growing on this journey. Over tea and snacks, each group presented their thoughts and shared cre- ative ideas on how to further spread the message of kindness and connection.

The gathering served as a re- minder that transformation be- gins within. Through reflection, connection, and service, we can inspire kindness and unity in our communities. WHITE ROCK, BC, CANADA

This past week, HKL hosted its very first guided meditation in White Rock. It was a beau- tiful afternoon as people from different backgrounds came to gether to slow down, connect, and simply be present.

The meditation focused on bringing ourselves back to the present moment. Surrounded by nature, everyone had the chance to step away from the busyness of everyday life and enjoy a peaceful experience together.

One of the most special parts of the day was seeing people natu- rally join us. Some individuals passing by stopped to ask what we were doing and decided to stay. One participant shared that she was part of a meditation circle while living in China and had been looking for something similar here. Others asked if these gatherings would happen regularly because they wanted to come back and bring their friends.

After the meditation, everyone stayed to talk and share their experiences. It was amazing to hear different perspectives and learn how people from all walks of life find ways to stay present. The conversation felt genuine, and there was such a welcoming atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable contributing.

Our first guided meditation re- minded us of how powerful it can be to simply pause and be

Following the first HKL guided meditation in White Rock, everyone gathered for a group photo to commemorate the occasion.

REFLECTION FROM A SEEKER OF TRUTH

Such a beautiful compilation of words, but what do they re- ally mean?

The flower sitting on its stem is not worried about the scents and shapes of other flowers or desiring their scents and forms. The flower is not judging who is coming by and refraining from giving its fragrance to those it does not like. The flower gives its fragrance freely and spon- taneously to all. If human be- ings have a dancing heart, then so too must the life within the flower be dancing in its deep- ly rooted connection with the Earth. There is some secret that I am oblivious to.

The bird is singing before the sun is even up. What is it sing ing? I have no idea. It sings and sings continuously. How come? There is some secret that I am oblivious to.

In this world, nothing is perma- nent; everything passes away. "We are here for a few moments in the eternity of time." Within

Be happy like a flower dancing on its stem.

there is an enormous depth. There is some secret that I am this simple statement of truth, oblivious to.

"How does a flower feel on its stem? How does a bird feel sit- ting on the branch of a tree?"

I have been told that these ques- tions can be answered only in deep silence as we enter into an- other world, the world of truth. My current way of living is pre- venting me from entering this deep silence and experiencing the truth. The habits that have been adopted are taking me away from the truth and from really experiencing what these statements really mean.

Human life is the ultimate gift, for it is only in this form that we are able to recognize the truth of existence and our relationship with the Divine. I truly pray that I do not squander this precious gift on arbitrary matters, people, places, and things. May we all grasp the preciousness of this life and live in alignment with our true Divine Nature.

Be overjoyed like a bird on the branch of a tree.

Be deep like the passing away of all things.

Be joyous as the coming of new spring with life full of flowers.

Glory reigns everywhere and God is the most beautiful presence.

To live in human life is such a glorious opportunity to dwell with God.

The most recent Heart to Heart Saturday brought together 27 participants in person and six online for a morning of reflec- tion, community connection, and guided meditation. The FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, USA

Participants then reflected on an inspiring passage from Love Is a Fire by Llewellyn Vaughan- Lee:

"Just as a sunflower follows the sun, so does each par- ticle of creation, inwardly, turn towards the Creator. Everything that is created praises God. This is the song of the universe, the harmony that underlies everything."

After the quote was read aloud twice, the group spent a quiet moment in contemplation be- fore sharing personal reflections on its meaning. The discussion encouraged participants to explore how greater awareness, gratitude, and compassion can transform everyday experiences.

The gathering continued with a guided meditation based on HKL's Weekly Practice, fol- lowed by a discussion connect- ing the meditation to the weekly commitments. Participants also reflected on the value of stay- ing connected with the global HKL movement throughout the week.

Where Peace Begins Within

On July 14, 2026, HKL Cali- fornia Chapter volunteers were honored to join the Walk for Peace as it arrived in Fresno. supporting the Buddhist monks and community who have been dedicated to spreading the mes- sage of peace and unity.

Founded in 2025 by the Vipas- sana Bhavana Center in Fort Worth under the guidance of Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra, the inaugural Walk for Peace began on October 26, 2025. A devoted group of 15 to 24 Theravada Buddhist monks em- barked on a remarkable 2,300 mile journey on foot through nine southern states and Wash- ington, D.C., raising awareness of inner peace and mindfulness across America and beyond.

The walk's powerful message that "peace begins within." beautifully aligns with HKL's universal message that peace resides within every soul and every heart. Through medita- tion and inner reflection, HKL inspires individuals to awaken the virtues of Humility, Kindness, and Love, creating ripples

During the gathering, HKL volunteers had the privilege of meeting Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra, the founder of the Walk for Peace. They warmly invited him and members of the Buddhist community to attend the 8th International HKL Con- ference in Toronto, Canada on August 8, 2026.

Sukhnoor Kaur, a HKL volun- teer in Fresno, described the ex- perience as deeply moving. She shared that witnessing the diver- sity of cultures and the heartfelt welcome from the Buddhist community was truly inspiring. She was especially touched by Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra's calm presence, the peace he radiated, his patience, and his genuine interest in learning

"Our walk is not to change the world. Our walk is to show all the people we meet along the road that peace is not far; it is right within our hearts. If we are willing to pause, stop, and look back, we will find peace."

Later, volunteers visited the Fresno Cambodian Buddhist Society, where Venerable Bhik- khu Paññākāra and the monks on the journey shared their per- sonal experiences. HKL vol-

Notes:

Allow enough chilling time: Refrigerate for at least 5 hours, but 8-12 hours (overnight) yields the creamiest texture and best flavor.

Adjust the consistency: If the oats are too thick in the mom- ing, stir in a splash of addition- al almond milk until you reach your desired consistency.

Choose ripe peaches: For the best flavor, use sweet, juicy, ripe peaches. Underripe peaches can make the dish taste bland or tart.
