THE HIDDEN FIRE BENEATH YOUR SKIN
BY RAJDI GEMERI, COSMETIC NURSE, DERMAL THERAPIST AND CLINIC OWNER, PAUSE MEDICLINIC
Inflammation is the silent driver behind many of the skin concerns we see every day. When the skin’s natural barrier is compromised by UV exposure, stress, hormones, pollution or genetics it triggers a cascade of inflammatory signals. This process isn’t limited to later life or menopause; it can occur at any age. Over time, this chronic low-grade inflammation fuels a range of visible problems.
In acne, inflammation amplifies clogged pores and bacterial activity, leading to red, painful lesions. In rosacea, it dilates blood vessels and heightens sensitivity, causing persistent flushing and bumps. Melasma and other forms of pigmentation are worsened as inflammatory messengers stimulate excess melanin production, leaving uneven dark patches.
Even wrinkles are accelerated by this same process. Chronic inflammation activates specialised enzymes called matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which actively break down the skin’s structural proteins particularly collagen and elastin. These proteins form the supportive scaffolding that keeps skin firm, plump and resilient. As inflammation persists, free radicals and inflammatory cytokines further damage existing collagen fibres while simultaneously impairing the skin’s ability to produce new ones. The result is a progressive loss of elasticity, the formation of fine lines, deeper wrinkles and an overall thinner, less youthful appearance.
At Pause Mediclinic, we recognise that no two skins or inflammatory pathways are the same. Our approach centres on developing highly individualised treatment protocols tailored to each person’s unique triggers, skin type and goals. Central to this is Universkin, a formulary skincare range that allows us to create customised serums on the spot in clinic.
Universkin is built on a clear philosophy: inflammation control, tissue regeneration and skin resilience form the true foundation of lasting skin quality. Rather than simply targeting visible symptoms like pigmentation, wrinkles, acne, redness or dryness, it addresses the underlying biology of chronic inflammation and the progressive degradation of the skin’s regenerative capacity. It needs a proprietary Inflamarker P-HC Technology combines a unique blend of omega-3 fatty acids, biomimetic signalling peptides and growth factors. These ingredients work through a biohacking pathway: Camelina sativa oil provides alpha-linolenic acid that keratinocytes convert into anti-inflammatory EPA and DHA, while the peptides act as precise signalling molecules that “dialogue” with the skin rather than override it.
The results are multi-layered. Inflammatory markers are reduced, collagen production and hyaluronic acid synthesis are boosted, skin elasticity improves, and the barrier plus its hydrolipidic film are restored. This makes Universkin especially powerful for in-clinic use with optimising pre-care, accelerating post-procedure recovery, minimising downtime and enhancing outcomes across diverse skin and treatment intensities. Personalisation is treated not as a one-off plan but as an ongoing Precision Loop of Decode, Design, Deliver and Adapt, delivering elevated clinical results, higher patient satisfaction and longer-lasting skin health.
Calm the fire within with truly individualised care, and healthier, clearer, more resilient skin follows.
As clinicians, our fire is well and truly lit to offer this way of treating our patients at Pause Mediclinic.
