The HKL Time is a warm, uplifting publication shared every two weeks to celebrate the global impact of the Humility, Kindness & Love movement. It highlights community efforts and strengthens connecti
On April 4, 2026, we had the opportunity to volunteer and take part in the Edmonton chap- ter's HKL Walk. It was a mean- ingful experience that reminded us how much small acts of kind- ness can impact people
Our walk began at the Faculty Club at the University of Alber- ta and continued to the Legisla- ture Grounds. Along the way, we handed out flowers, spoke with community members, and shared HKL's message of com- passion, positivity, and equality. Even though handing someone a flower seemed simple, it made a real difference to many of the people we met.
Some people were surprised to receive flowers from strangers, while others stopped to talk with us about kindness, com- munity, and spreading positivi- ty. Seeing people smile, laugh, and feel seen reminded us how even brief moments of connec- tion can brighten someone's day.
Volunteering for this initiative reminded us about the impor- tance of giving back to the com- munity. Many people are deal- ing with stress, loneliness, or personal struggles. Taking time to genuinely connect with oth- ers can truly make a difference.
The HKL Walk wasn't just about handing out flowers or meeting people; it was about creating connections, uplifting others, and encouraging people to carry kindness forward in their own lives.

UFV HKL x Uplift Senior Wellness: Bringing Community Together
A few weeks ago, members of the HKL Club at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbots- ford, BC had the opportunity to collaborate with Uplift Senior Wellness for a session focused and mindfulness. The collabo- ration brought students and se- niors together in the same space, SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA the session. After the class, HKL members led a short seminar in- troducing the message behind Humility, Kindness, and Love, followed by a guided medita- tion and a collective affirmation practice.
Together, the group repeated af- firmations such as, "We are Hu- mility, we are Kindness, we are Love." Said once, then again, until the words stopped feeling repeated and started feeling re- membered. As everyone joined in, the atmosphere grew calmer and more connected. It felt like a shared experience where peotwo generations spending time with each other in a way that felt open and grounded in com- munity.

class, participating in the activ- ities alongside them and spend- ing time connecting throughout
The response from the seniors was incredibly heartfelt. Many
felt more positive by repeating the affirmations and hoped to incorporate them into future wellness classes. Others men- tioned wanting to share the practices with their families and encouraged HKL members to return for future sessions with the broader community. The or- ganization also expressed inter- est in continuing the collabora- tion and creating more sessions together in the future, and possi- bly expanding the initiative at a larger scale.
The collaboration showed how small moments of connection and positivity can create change in someone's life. Through ini- tiatives like this, HKL continues to create spaces that bring peo- ple together through compassion, mindfulness, and commu- nity care.
