Thirds Spaces
This research explores Third Spaces as the informal social layer of campus life, connecting academic, residential and recreational areas. It emphasizes their role in supporting daily interaction, relaxation and cultural exchange beyond formal learning. The study identifies key typologies: pause points for rest and spontaneous conversation; plazas and courts for gatherings and student activities; and promenades that link these areas with walkable, landscaped edges. Together, they form a cohesive public realm that promotes comfort, inclusivity, accessibility and campus identity.
