Utilizing the rural resources, families at Sundarban's Rakkaskhali Island are being trained in for scientific poultry farming and vermicompost culture. School-like trainings were organized on disease control, feeding, organic compost production, waste management and upscaling their business to make them commercially viable. In the coming months, the chicks would grow, the crops would flourish, and the village would thrive. The villagers showed great reciprocity and ownership in maintaining the compost pits and the chick houses one that indicates optimism and growth. It channelled not only an additional source of stable income, but also a milestone in achieving a circular economy and sustainable farming practices. The far-reaching subtle aspect of this intervention is to keep the families together by mitigating the issue of migration. When the income gets doubled at home itself, the family stays united. It proves the more of Atmanirbharta, the more avenues open up for exploring and earning.
