  • Joni MitchellThere are legendary singer-songwriters, and then there's Joni Mitchell, in a league entirely her own. After leaving Saskatoon in the late 1960s for Toronto and the U.S., she became a defining voice of the folk revival before expanding boldly into jazz, rock, and pop. Often called "your favourite singer's favourite singer," Mitchell has inspired artists from Taylor Swift and Sara Bareilles to Björk, as well as contemporaries like Bob Dylan, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix. Her intimate songwriting and striking, genre-bending soundscapes affectionately dubbed "Joni's weird chords" - poetically capture the human experience. Her 1971 album Blue is frequently cited among the greatest albums of all time. Mitchell has been ranked by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest songwriters, singers, and guitarists ever. She is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (1997), a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (1981) and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (2007), a Polar Music Prize laureate (1996), and a recipient of both the Kennedy Center Honors (2021) and the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize (2023). Despite her well- known disillusionment with the industry, she has won 11 GRAMMY Awards, four JUNO Awards, the Les Paul Award, and was named MusiCares Person of the Year in 2022.
  • Billy TalentIf you love Canadian rock, then you love Billy Talent. The band comprised of Benjamin Kowalewicz, lan D'Sa, Jonathan Gallant, Aaron Solowoniuk, and Jordan Hastings - has had a long and illustrious career spanning over three decades, with 25 JUNO Award nominations and seven wins. Known for their cinematic storytelling, Billy Talent is also the most awarded band in MuchMusic Video Awards history, with 10 awards. In Canada, they've sold almost 1 million albums and have tripled that number in international sales. In particular, their second and third albums, Billy Talent and Billy Talent II, have been certified by the Canadian Recording Industry Association as triple platinum and double platinum, respectively. They are undoubtedly one of Canada's most successful homegrown bands in the last quarter- century. After the height of the coronavirus pandemic, many still panicked and rightfully so, but this band transformed fear into hope through song and action. The 2026 recipient of the Humanitarian Award is Billy Talent in recognition of the work they've done to contribute to and raise awareness for charities in Canada and beyond.

  • Daniel CaesarThere are contemporary R&B stars, and then there's Daniel Caesar, a singular voice whose music has quietly and powerfully reshaped the global sound of modern soul. Since emerging as a defining artist of his generation, Caesar has built an international career marked by emotional honesty, compositional sophistication, and a profound cultural connection with audiences around the world. His breakthrough album Freudian signalled the arrival of a major talent. The record achieved Double Platinum certification in Canada and Platinum in the United States, earning widespread critical acclaim and establishing Caesar as one of Canada's most compelling contemporary exports. He reached new global heights with "Peaches," his chart-topping collaboration with Justin Bieber, which debuted at No. 1 internationally and became one of the most streamed songs of its year. With each release, Caesar has expanded both his artistic range and his global footprint, elevating Canadian music on the world stage.

  • Alexander MairAlexander Mair's influence on the Canadian music industry is both foundational and enduring. A visionary executive, tireless advocate, and architect of the modern Canadian music ecosystem, Mair played a central role in shaping the infrastructure that allowed Canadian artists not only to thrive at home, but to compete on the world stage. After early success as a record company executive in his early twenties, Mair became the business manager for Gordon Lightfoot, overseeing the artist's affairs during the most defining years of his career. From 1968 through the mid-1970s, Mair managed Lightfoot's international rise, producing his first coast-to-coast Canadian tour and stewarding an era that included global hits such as "If You Could Read My Mind" and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Earlier, he had promoted all of Lightfoot's early recordings, each achieving platinum- plus status in Canada, while also shepherding landmark Canadian successes including The Irish Rovers' The Unicorn and Motherlode's U.S. Top-Five hit "When I Die."

  • Sandy PandyaThroughout Sandy Pandya's trailblazing journey in the music industry, she has championed artists at every turn, working to create opportunities where none existed before, all in service of a more equitable industry. After getting her start as a music event host in her hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan, Pandya used this experience to land several roles at top labels and agencies, including Attic Records, BMG Records and Celebrity Talent International, before stepping out on her own in several successful ventures, most notably Pandyamonium Management and ArtHaus. Since 1996, Pandyamonium Management has been a pivotal force in the artist management industry, shaping the success of numerous Canadian artists, including Serena Ryder and Jully Black. But in 2019, Pandya launched her most full- service offering yet - ArtHaus. ArtHaus was born out of a need for true community and collaboration. In addition to being a live-and-work space for artists that has hosted the likes of iskwē, Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench, Tom Wilson, Cadence Weapon and DANNY PHNTM, ArtHaus is also an independent record label, music publisher, management company and educational nonprofit. Through the ArtHaus Community nonprofit, artists have access to education programs in partnership with organizations like ADVANCE, Canada's Black Music Business Collective, Live Nation, Canada's Walk of Fame, RBC, and Canada's Music Incubator. ArtHaus also offers mentorship programs and previously teamed up with Propeller Coffee Co. to support Unison Benevolent Fund, a non-profit that provides emergency relief and counselling services to musicians.

  • Vinny CinquemaniWhen it comes to Canada's live music industry, few have seen and done as much as Vinny Cinquemani has. A former musician himself, Cinquemani recognized the pivotal role live performance and touring play in achieving success in domestic and international markets. Thus, Cinquemani transitioned into the booking industry in the 1970s, following a move to Toronto from New York in the 1970s. This was a pivotal time in the Canadian live music scene; Canadian artists were still discovering their place in the global industry as homegrown talent began to explode onto the world's stage. Cinquemani's masterful negotiation skills, business acumen and fierce dedication to his artists landed him roles at various influential booking firms, including Concept 376, Music Shoppe International, Platinum Artists, the Agency (as President) and S.L. Feldman & Associates (SLFA) - first as VP of Artist Relations then later President after taking the company to new heights. In 2010, he stepped down to the role of Senior VP, later transitioning to his current role as Co-President of Paquin Artists Agency (PAA) in 2022. Since then, PAA has become the largest booking agency in Canada, following a recent merger with APA Canada. Cinquemani's talents and significant impact on the Canadian music scene have been widely recognized. He has been named Canadian Booking Agent of the Year a whopping 10 times at the Canadian Music Industry Awards, setting a record for most wins. Twice in a row, he was voted the #1 Agency/Agent in Billboard's Top 100 Power Players in Canada in 2024 and 2025 and also voted one of Billboard's top Global Power Players in 2025. Cinquemani has also shared his talents with other sectors of the music industry. He served eight years as a Talent Coordinator for CARAS and six years on the CARAS Board of Directors. His contributions to artist development and live music were recognized with COCA's prestigious Founders Award.
  • Page 30en 2025.

Land Acknowledgment

The City of Hamilton is situated upon the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We further acknowledge that this land is covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Today, the City of Hamilton is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island (North America) and we recognize that we must do more to learn about the rich history of this land so that we can better understand our roles as residents, neighbours, partners and caretakers.

On nights like tonight, Parliament Hill seems so far away - but what happens there impacts the future of Canadian music. That's why at Music Canada, we spend all of our time thinking about and working on music's biggest policy challenges and opportunities.

We are continuing to work closely with the government to ensure that Al tools respect IP and human artistry. When Al tools are built with music, that music must be licensed. We are also focused on a modern policy and regulatory environment that rewards investment in Canadian and Indigenous talent, so artists can work with the best teams and reach audiences around the world. Throughout this work, we keep you - the artists and the teams who support you at the centre.

We're honoured to again be a part of this night. Your talent, your hardwork and your commitment to your craft make us all proud to be Canadian.

Congratulations to all of this year's JUNO nominees and to the team at CARAS who bring us together each year to celebrate you.

A Message from Message de music

CANADA

Joni Mitchell

There are legendary singer-songwriters, and then there's Joni Mitchell, in a league entirely her own.

Across 19 studio albums and six live records, Mitchell has remained a fearless witness to her times, using songs like "Big Yellow Taxi," "The Fiddle and the Drum," and Dog Eat Dog to challenge environmental destruction, war, and political extremism. An accomplished painter who often designs her own album covers, she continues to innovate, creating art that speaks truth to power.

Billy Talent

If you love Canadian rock, then you love Billy Talent.

In 2022, the band had just ended a six-year hiatus with the release of the album Crisis of Faith, which earned two JUNO Award nominations. To mark the release of the new record, Billy Talent embarked on a 10-show Canadian tour with a twist: each city's concert served as a donation site for a local food bank. To top it all off, a portion of ticket sales was also donated to each city's food bank. This was all made possible by the launch of the Billy Talent Charitable Trust, designed to help the band and their fans support various charities. To date, they've supported multiple causes, including the #TorontoStrong Fund, MusiCounts, War Child, Kids Help Phone, and Scotiabank's Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer.

Billy Talent's journey in humanitarian work goes all the way back to a cause close to their heart: multiple sclerosis. After drummer Aaron Solowoniuk was diagnosed with the condition in 1998, they held their first benefit concert in 2006 and have held many since. In 2018, the band raised over $20,000 for the MS Society of Canada by selling limited-edition gold record plaques, including each member's signature.

Prix humanitaire

At the heart of Billy Talent's humanitarian achievements is their music, which they have consistently used as a platform to spread love, community and hope. On the making of the Crisis of Faith album, the band had to say, "...these are some of the most turbulent times we've ever had to face, and this record embodies both the light and dark sides of those feelings...At the same time, the underlying thread that connects each song is one of hope and resilience."

There are contemporary R&B stars, and then there's Daniel Caesar, a singular voice whose music has quietly and powerfully reshaped the global sound of modern soul.

The JUNO International Achievement Award honours Canadian artists who have not only topped charts, but who have raised the profile of Canadian music internationally. Daniel Caesar embodies this distinction. Through international touring, chart success, and sustained worldwide acclaim, he has demonstrated that Canadian R&B can lead the global conversation.

His most recent album, Son Of Spergy, marks a defining new chapter. Debuting in the Top Five on the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart, it stands as his highest-charting body of work and his first U.S. Top 10 album. At its core, the record is about reconciliation and communication, particularly in relation to his father, after whom the album is titled. Deeply contemplative yet compositionally breathtaking, Son Of Spergy finds Caesar examining maturity, accountability, and what it means to grow into manhood. His work resonates because it is both deeply personal and universally relatable, rooted in faith, family, and self- examination.Recorded across Jamaica and the American West, the album carries both emotional intimacy and expansive sonic ambition.

Multi-platinum global star Daniel Caesar will be honoured

International Achievement Award

Prix du rayonnement international with the International Achievement Award in recognition of his extraordinary global impact as one of Canada's most influential contemporary artists. He will also take the JUNO Awards stage for a special performance, celebrating a career that continues to elevate Canadian music around the world.

Alexander Mair

Alexander Mair's influence on the Canadian music industry is both foundational and enduring.

Earlier, he had promoted all of Lightfoot's early recordings, each achieving platinum- plus status in Canada, while also shepherding landmark Canadian successes including The Irish Rovers' The Unicorn and Motherlode's U.S. Top-Five hit "When I Die."

In 1974, Mair co-founded Attic Records with Tom Williams, launching what would become the largest and most successful independent record company in Canadian history. Under his leadership as President and CEO, Attic Music Group earned more than 60 Gold, Platinum, and multi-Platinum awards across Canada, the United States, Japan, and Europe. The label played a defining role in the careers of artists such as Triumph, Lee Aaron, Maestro Fresh Wes, Patsy Gallant, Hagood Hardy, Downchild Blues Band, Haywire, The Nylons, and The Irish Rovers, many of whom continue to influence Canadian music today. Anticipating the seismic technological changes facing the industry, Mair sold Attic in 2000, ensuring the company's legacy while positioning it for a new era.

Beyond his business achievements, Mair was one of the most dedicated and impactful industry advocates of his generation. He played a pivotal role in advancing Canadian content regulations, appearing at key hearings in 1969 and helping champion what became known as CanCon. Over four decades, he served in senior leadership roles across nearly every major Canadian music institution, including CAPAC, SOCAN, FACTOR, the Canadian Independent Music Association, the Canadian Music Publishers Association, and the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award Presented by Slaight Music

Canadian Musical Rights Reproduction Agency. He also spent decades as a Governor and programming leader at Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall.

Even in semi-retirement, Mair continued to mentor artists, executives, and companies, generously sharing his knowledge and international perspective until his passing in 2022. His legacy is woven into the very fabric of Canada's music industry. In recognition of his extraordinary contributions, the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award will be accepted by his family.

Sandy Pandya

Throughout Sandy Pandya's trailblazing journey in the music industry, she has championed artists at every turn, working to create opportunities where none existed before, all in service of a more equitable industry.

Pandya's dedication to supporting Canadian artists has not gone unnoticed. She is the winner of the 2018 CIMA Brian Chater Industry Award, the 2019 MMF Honour Roll Award, three Canadian Music Week Awards (2024), and in 2024 was named one of the inaugural Billboard Women in Music Honourees. Beyond ArtHaus, she serves on the Board of Directors for FACTOR and CIMA and frequently supports grassroots creative initiatives across the country.

Workman, The Cash Brothers, Alejandra Ribera, Basil Phoenix, and more.

Vinny Cinquemani

When it comes to Canada's live music industry, few have seen and done as much as Vinny Cinquemani has.

The Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award

Presented by Slaight Music

Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award goes to Vinny Cinquemani in recognition of his influence on Canada's live music industry as a booking agent, executive and consummate music business professional.
