SPLAT ATTACK GIG REVIEW
WRITTEN BY AMELIE THRELFALL Sold For Parts were eagerly invited to the stage whilst anticipation and excitement spread immediately throughout the crowd. Their powerful half an hour began with being introduced as a group, and the music soon followed - the bass guitar taking control within milliseconds and the crowd just after.
Out of nowhere, the audience began moving, whether that was a foot tap on the ground or a full headbanging moment, everyone was moving in some way, majorly expressing the impact that all three musicians carry.
The Down By Here stage was thriving; music blaring, people singing and the lighting set up perfectly for watching the show go ahead. Sold For Parts also amped up the crowd by talking about certain politicians, such as Nigel Farage, and how their work - or rather lack of, isn't good enough and that Welsh oppression isn't something to be ignored. The passion in the room was immense; loud, punk screams and a solid understanding of why they're here and who they're here to support.
Saffia, Queenie and Alicia absolutely killed that half an hour set, and continued to impress the audience the whole way - constantly making instrument swaps but still managing to keep everyone interested by asking the audience questions or even getting everyone to stomp together in time.
I absolutely adore their music, and find a lot of it also relates to my, aswell as a huge amount of other women's experiences in this world, such as perverse comments or being followed home. It's bands like these that actually encourage people to speak out, and remain confident despite their past struggles. That is why Sold For Parts are one of the best upcoming bands of South Wales yet! 7
