Jackson Memorial Hospital
2015 REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY
From The Chairman Of The Public Health Trust Board Of Trustees, Darryl K. Sharpton
Together we are strong.
Unity is the essential value that symbolizes Jackson Health System's legacy and its future. Over the course of nearly 100 years, Jackson has grown to become the nation's largest public hospital system. Taxpayers from every background, every social standing, and every ethnic heritage come together to preserve and embolden our mission. Jackson represents the community's promise to itself that every human being should have access to world-class care.
We have united over these past four years with our key stakeholders to transform Jackson from an ailing and outdated system into the strong, sustainable, forward-looking institution that our community deserves. Thanks to the cooperation of so many, we are providing better care in a better organization. We have also launched a massive capital program that will enhance and expand Jackson in the very neighborhoods we are needed most. Most people think and see Jackson as one central Jackson Memorial Medical Center campus near downtown Miami - this is certainly our flagship, but our geographic presence is so much larger and still needs to grow. Our future is built around investing in areas of Miami-Dade County that are closer to you.
Hundreds of millions of dollars will be invested in Jackson's presence in your neighborhoods over the next decade. This includes major renovations at Jackson North Medical Center in North Miami Beach; Jackson South Community Hospital near Palmetto Bay; the new Jackson West outpatient campus being constructed in Doral; and especially in the primary and urgent care clinics that are a growing part of our service. We already touch neighborhoods from Overtown to South Beach, and from Miami Gardens to Little Havana. But we need to do more to ensure we achieve our mission. Soon we will reach communities that have never before enjoyed such close-at-hand access to Jackson's world-renowned care.
Our strength today will empower us to be strong tomorrow. The work we do for our neighbors today is the work that will benefit our children tomorrow. All of it is possible because we are united, together. On behalf of our Board of Trustees, thanks so much for being part of this journey.

Our Family
Jackson International connects patients from around the globe with expert treatment for complex medical care. In addition, Jackson International's team provides these patients and their families with attentive, detail-oriented service to eliminate stress and worry.
Because it can be challenging to travel to a different country for care, Jackson International patients have access to our medical concierge and hospitality program. The program assigns a hospitality coordinator who provides compassionate, professional, and personal assistance 24 hours a day.
Recognizing the unique needs of international patients and their families, Jackson International developed the International Patient Reception Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, an upscale oasis. The center features first-class hospital amenities in addition to luxurious waiting areas, examination rooms, and a full-service business center.
The center assists with every aspect of the process from inpatient and outpatient referrals to emergency and trauma care.
